I heard shatter needs to be decarbed or activated to be used for edibles, how can I do that?

That is correct, the THCA has to be 'activated' by decarbing it to turn the THCA into THC so you can get high.

You can do so by heating the shatter up to 250F for an hour or so. Check out our blog post on decarboxylation for more information:
